Featured AR headwear

I had the pleasure of working on a couple of AR Effects during my time at Scholar (LA). This AR cardboard helmet was one of them, it was highlighted at the F8 Conference in 2017.

I worked closely with the Art Director to design the lighting components that adorn this Cardboard Helmet. A notable moment was designing and animating the lights on the helmets using only textures (see lights around mouthpiece). The lights animated on 1 by 1, then would light up all together, then all turn off and then repeat. I achieved this by backing out a map for each light turning on spilling light on the inner casing. Then worked with the Spark artist to import those separate images and animate through them in engine.

Highlighted are a few more of the AR assets I assisted on, see“Lazer Cat Eyes” “Starry Eyes” & “Heart Glasses”

A fun holiday hat, the challenge with this one was to get this asset as light as possible to run smoothly on the engine while still maintaining the integrity of the design. Featured on Kevin Hart’s holiday live stream.
